Greens support extension of light rail to Dulwich Hill

25 May 2009

light-railMarrickville Council’s Green Deputy Mayor, Fiona Byrne has again added her support for light rail to be extended to Dulwich Hill.

“The Greens have been determined that the Rozelle goods line corridor be used for light rail and extended to Dulwich Hill.”

“A successful light rail system already operates between Central Station and Lilyfield and extending it further is an obvious next step.”

“The State Government seriously needs to get its act together on public transport,” she said.

“Marrickville, Leichhardt and Ashfield Council have been supporting the use of the Dulwich Hill goods line for “alternative” transport, including light rail, for a long time.”

“A project that delivered light rail from Dulwich Hill and included a cycle way /walkway in the same corridor would be roundly applauded by the community.”

“The ongoing series of State Government public transport failures has knocked community confidence in its abilities to deliver on any initiatives,” she said.
