Justine Langford for Burraga West Ward
The Greens have endorsed West Ward local Justine Langford as their candidate for Marrickville Council’s by-election on Saturday November 15.
Justine Langford was born and raised in Sydney. She studied Communications (Honors) at the University of Technology, Sydney, majoring in Radio and Social & Political Theory. She lives in West Ward Marrickville and has lived in the Marrickville local government area for over 22 years. Justine has been a member of the Marrickville Greens for over 15 years. She works as digital producer for ABC TV and is a proud member and a Section Councillor for the Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU).
Justine supports the Four Greens Principles:
• Ecological sustainability
• Social equality and economic justice
• Grassroots democracy
• Peace, non-violence and disarmament
Justine knows Marrickville and particularly West Ward very well. She knows the people and understands the issues.
She wants to serve her local community and help make Marrickville an even better place to live.
There are many issues facing Marrickville which Justine is concerned about:
• Westconnex Tollway
• The proposed re-zoning of the Victoria Road Precinct
• Housing affordability
• Creative employment opportunities
• Council amalgamations
• Marrickville Library and the new community hub
• Pollution of the Cooks River
• Accessibility to Dulwich Hill Train Station
• Safer streets
If elected, Justine will work hard to listen to residents and engage with local issues. A vibrant Marrickville must have an appropriate mix of housing and industry, and Labor, Liberal and Independent councillors cannot simply pander to the narrow self-interest of developers.
